Alfred Enderby is a traditional fish smokers specialising in cold smoking salmon & haddock in a century-old smokehouse, using only traditional methods.
Their century old smokehouse has a thick layer of tar which has built up over the years, and this is what provides the fish with its premium taste. Alfred Enderby also smoke their fish for 12-16 hours, as opposed to the 8 hours many other fish smokers use. They also refuse to use any smoke flavourings or and allow the natural process to create their delicious flavours.
Visit the smokehouse for a tour with the owner Mr Salmon to learn more about how the fish is made and get some insight into Grimsby's rich fishing heritage. Each tour offers an insight into traditional smoking methods, as well as a tasting session. At the end of the tour you'll also have the opportunity to visit the fish shop and take some tasty salmon or haddock home with you.
