A real hidden gem, situated on St Martin's Lane, The Cheese Society is an Aladdin’s cave of cheesy gourmet treasures.

Opened in 2001 , The Cheese Society is a family-run business, and a popular destination for visiting cheese lovers and locals alike. The shop has a fantastic team of cheesemongers who are more than happy to offer advice on their vast selection of locally produced cheeses - they love introducing customers to exciting and new cheeses, as well as offering their expert knowledge on more traditional products.

A multi-award winning local business, they were voted UK Cheese Shop of the Year for 2019/20, and in June 2022, they were awarded the title of Inspirational Cheese Retailer 2022 by Le Gruyere AOP of Switzerland and Speciality Food Magazine UK.

Also home to The Cheese Society café, a cosy 16 seater eatery serving up local wine and classic cheese dishes, all cooked in-house.
